Swordfish is an XLIFF‑based CAT editor that handles a wide range of localization formats (Office,
DITA, HTML, JSON, PO and many others) and accepts multiple XLIFF versions for seamless format
interchange; it supports TMX for translation‑memory exchange and integrates both internal TM
features and external machine‑translation engines for faster throughput.
The application preserves structure and metadata, offers in‑context exact matches, segment filtering and customization, generates HTML views for proofreading, and can produce or accept XLIFF/TMX artifacts for downstream processing; installers are available for Windows, macOS and Linux and the project sources are published under an open license with subscription options for installers and technical support.
RemoteTM is a multiuser Translation Memory server (web application) that exposes an open REST API, runs on Apache Tomcat/Java, and shares Swordfish’s fast TM engine across LAN or WAN so memories can be centrally stored, accessed and managed (import/export TMX, permissions, user management) for team reuse and provenance consistency.
